Winterization & Tune-Up Special:
Preparing your boat or PWC for extended storage is important to protecting your investment, especially in climates with the potential for sub-freezing temperatures. The enemy of engines and electrical systems is moisture.

Both two stroke and four stroke motors require water to keep exhaust temperatures lower during operation. Water is retained in these systems and must have anti-freeze added to prevent severe damage being caused by ice forming and expanding.

Engine valves, cylinder walls, and piston tops must be protected from condensation. This will form on metal surfaces naturally as temperatures fluctuate. These surfaces must be coated with storage oil to prevent rust from forming and damaging surfaces.

Jet pumps and drive units must also have all water removed to prevent freeze damage. Bearing surfaces should be lubricated to prevent rust damage.

Fuel also is subject to deterioration during extended storage. Evaporation will cause a varnish-like residue to build up in fuel injectors or carburators. Ethanol mix gasoline will also attract moisture. Marine grade fuel stabilizers must be added.

Pleasant Valley Marine also recommends completing the required tune up service during the winterization process. This insures that the unit is ready to start after storage ends and saves an other trip to the dealership. Spark plugs, oil, and filter are changed. Engine computer logs are examined and reset.

Finally, batteries are charged and disconnected. Batteries must be kept from freezing and kept on a trickle charger. We recommend moving the battery on doors. If a battery freezes, the plates will warp and cause the batter to no longer hold a full charge.

Pleasant Valley Marine's winterization process eliminates the need for de-winterization. At the end of storage, simply connect the battery and start the motor.

Full service 2 stroke winterization starts at $180 for twin cylinders and $190 for triple cylinders.
Full service 4 stroke winterization starts at $225 for triple cylinders.
Full service on inboard/outboards start at $230 for four cylinder motors.
